SIEMENS AG and TÜV Süd certify the worldwide 1st Siemens Functional Safety Professional for process automation.

Mr. Torsten Felix, Flemming Automationstechnik GmbH Lindlar, is the first certified SFSP (Siemens Functional Safety Professional). On 30.06.2010, Mr. Felix successfully mastered the final qualification step, the audit, thereby underlining his outstanding competence in chemical process control technology.

An essential feature of an SFSP is proven knowledge and experience in the complete, independent handling of SIS (Safety Instrumented System) projects according to IEC 61511 as well as participation in special training courses on the subject of functional safety.

In detail, the award of the title confirms that the certified person has the following qualifications:

- Extensive knowledge of the implementation of the Safety Life Cycle according to IEC61511 or the corresponding national versions.

- extensive knowledge of the planning and use of Siemens S7 F systems

- Many years of experience in the implementation of projects in the process industry (oil and gas, chemicals, power plants) according to IEC61511

In order to obtain the certificate, participation in several special courses on functional safety in the process industry, a successfully passed examination and an audit to confirm the required knowledge of a project carried out are also required.

The audit is carried out jointly by representatives of Siemens and TÜV SÜD and guarantees an objective assessment of the candidate.
